JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

+ Shift Supervisor

About:

The shift supervisor will direct the day-to-day operations of the facility and oversee the customer and staff experience during their shifts. Shift supervisors will also be responsible for the training and leadership of a group of general staff members assigned. Candidates must be supremely organised, detail oriented, and eager to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills are vital.

The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who demonstrates the ability to think critically and independently. We’re not interested in giving out checklists and micromanaging. We believe the best way to produce quality work and happy employees is by empowering creative, passionate people to use their brains, make decisions, and have a meaningful impact.

Duties:

  • maintain + uphold all company policies
  • oversee an environment that rigorously supports safety protocols and emphasizes the

  • safety of customers + employees

  • perform customer service + transactions from the front desk
  • supervise front desk + manage front desk and general staff
  • direct day to day operations
  • resolve member and customer related issues
  • assume the role as the responsible manager in absence of management
  • oversee the training + performance of assigned staff team
  • flexibility to work events + general belay when needed

Qualifications:

  • previous management experience climbing/fitness/service industries
  • detailed understanding of general rock climbing gym operations + activities
  • high proficiency in rock gym pro or similar software
  • proficiency in windows and ms office software
  • technical climbing knowledge
  • belay certification at beta climbing + fitness
  • ability to make decisions to manage risk + respond to emergency situations
  • assist staff with general maintenance of the facility Expectations:
  • full-time or part-time position
  • flexibility to work evenings, weekends and special events
  • must become an active and engaged member of the local climbing community and a mentor to junior staff
  • must be reliable, professional and enthusiastic about taking a leadership role in shaping the culture and community of a new climbing facility

+ Front Desk

About: As the first point of contact front desk employees have a great impact on the experience our customers will have at beta. A positive attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills are vital. Front desk employees must be savvy in all things beta and have a technical knowledge of climbing to administer belay tests and answer customer queries.

+ General Staff

Duties:

  • orient customers with the facility + appropriate climbing gear
  • provide excellent customer service while providing belays to customers
  • work events + programs including birthday parties, private groups, corporate events, etc.
  • general maintenance of the facility

Qualifications:

  • technical climbing knowledge is a plus
  • belay certification at Beta Climbing + Fitness (to be provided)
  • must be able to lift 25lbs
  • must be 16+ years of age

  • part-time position

  • must become an active and engaged member of the local climbing community
